AFA believes that the entertainment industry and the media has played a major role in the decline of those values in which our country was founded and which keeps a society and its families strong and healthy.
Not long after AFA was formed, AFA President Don Wildmon saw the need for State Directors and local activists' groups. While the AFA national serves as the conduit for educational and legal resources, the movement depends on dedicated local citizens to fight the front-line battles.
As the State Director of the AFA of CO, I see this organization utilizing two spiritual gifts —helps and prophecy. The "prophetic" gift will involve calling people to account, calling "sin" sin, exposing the darkness, and speaking the truth in love. The "helps" gift will involve assisting the local church, pastors, concerned Christians, and other like-minded organizations.
I can come to your community and speak to your church,
Sunday School class, civics group, youth group, decency organization, etc.
I can lead, assist, or participate in local workshops
and seminars.
I can be a consultant for you as you attempt to continue
to address the pornography and decency concerns in your area.
I can pray with you, your pastor, your group, your
local needs and network you with like-minded individuals.
Christians are supposed to be salt in a decaying and dying world system. We are called to expose darkness and speak up for truth. But, I'm afraid that people are already "trampling us underfoot." I have cut out numerous articles from the newspaper on various moral issues - homosexuality, abortion, gambling, violence, media sewage, and so on - and I have found an alarming trend - APATHY !
The reporters are quick to point out that at many meetings and sessions where "the other side" needed representation or a voice, there was none. In the Gazette Telegraph (9-18-96) concerning "Denver extends health benefits to partners of gay city workers," the Associate Press writer stated: "At prior hearings, little opposition had surfaced to the proposed ordinance, and it passed Monday night without discussion."
This reminds me of what God said to Ezekiel when their was injustice and immorality happening in the land. The Sovereign Lord said: "I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before Me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none." (Ezekiel 22:30)
