Tom continues to raise support for this faith ministry as he tries to build inroads into the churches of key cities - starting with El Paso County. When asked why he would want to begin another ministry in Colorado where there is Focus on the Family, Art of Family Living, Family Research Institute, and many similar groups, he said, "While the American Family Association is an ally with all these fine ministries, our goal is unique as we’re primarily concerned with morality and decency in the media."

Tom trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord at 12 years of age at a Baptist youth outing. He attended a Bible-believing church where the pastor and his youth leaders helped to lay a firm foundation. His belief system was further strengthened while in Campus Crusade for Christ at college. It was during his last year of student ministry (1973) that Tom felt called into the full-time pastoral ministry.
